Mark McCusker, CEO of Texthelp Systems Ltd, has been named amongst twenty-four business leaders from across the island of Ireland in the shortlist for the coveted award of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2011.

Eight nominees have been selected in each of the three categories, Industry, Emerging and International.

Almost a third of the 24 finalists are from Northern Ireland, the greatest number of finalists ever to represent the region in the program.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® is part of a global recognition programme, to identify, acclaim and support entrepreneurs and is currently run in over 50 countries, across six continents. The Irish programme, now in its 14th year, continues to go from strength-to-strength, championing the spirit of enterprise and creating a new era of opportunities for participants.

Cary Wilson, Partner in charge of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year programme in Northern Ireland comments "I am delighted to announce this list of finalists from Northern Ireland who now go forward to the next stage of the all island programme. These finalists represent a wide range of business sectors from across five counties in the province."

Of the eight finalists nominated in the International category, four are from Northern Ireland. Local nominees are also represented in both the Industry and Emerging categories.

Wilson comments "It is encouraging to see such a strong representation of Northern Ireland finalists in the International category, this is a clear sign of the global ambition and success of our local entrepreneurs."

He concludes "It is the innovation, creativity and ambition of these entrepreneurs from across the province that will continue to create vital employment and will become the driving force behind our economic recovery."

The overall 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced at a gala ceremony in Dublin in October.
