Changing pronunciations
If Browsealoud does not pronounce a word correctly you can change this easily using the Pronunciation window, which is shown below:
To change the pronunciation of a word:
Select the Pronunciation settings option from the Speech menu.If you cannot see this menu, click here.
The Preferences window is displayed.

If the Pronounce this and Like this text boxes are populated, click on the New button to clear them.

Enter your word in the Pronounce this text box. Click here to learn which text you can or cannot enter.

Click on the Speak button beside the Pronounce this text box to hear the word pronounced.

Specify how you want the word to be pronounced by the system, by entering the pronunciation in the Like this text box. Click here to learn which text you can or cannot enter.

Click on the Speak button beside the Like this text box to hear the new pronunciation.

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until you are happy with the new pronunciation.

Click on the Save button.
The word is added to the Pronunciations list box.
To edit a pronunciation that you may have previously added, select the word from the Pronunciations list box, edit the Pronounce this and Like this text boxes, then click on the Save button.
To stop Browsealoud from using a pronunciation that you may have previously added, select the word from the Pronunciations list box and then click on the Delete button.
