The Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC) has integrated a new assistive technology to its website to allow easier access to its online resources for more Canadians.

BrowseAloud enhances website accessibility for those who require online reading support, including 22% of adult Canadians with low literacy levels, 10% of Canadians with a learning disability, and 8% of Canadians who are visually impaired. This free software reads web content aloud in a natural sounding voice, in both official languages. It is also supported by several features such as word-for-word translation in five languages, an integrated dictionary, conversion of text to MP3 audio files, as well as visual reinforcement to increase word recognition and concentration.

"Making our website BrowseAloud-enabled is part of the SDRCC's continued commitment to reduce potential barriers for all Canadian sport community members to access its sport dispute prevention resources and dispute resolution services" said Carla Qualtrough, Chairperson of the SDRCC Board.
