BrowseAloud (Mac) delivers high quality speech to assist those with dyslexia, literacy difficulties, mild visual impairments and those who speak English as a second language. BrowseAloud (Mac) features and options are accessed from an easy to use, floating toolbar. They include:
Play by 'Hover Highlighting'
To start speech, click on the 'Play' button then move your mouse pointer over the text. Text is read out loud with synchronous highlighting. This audio-visual reinforcement has been proven to increase word recognition and improve reading. Hover Highlighting is also useful for people with physical disabilities who are dependent on alternative pointing devices, as they simply need to point and read.
To hear the last block of text read aloud once more, click on the 'Rewind' button.
To hear the next block of text read aloud, click on this 'Fast Forward' button.
To stop speech, click on the 'Stop' button. To restart speech, click on the 'Play' button.
